“The Snatch”
We will be working progressions towards a better understanding and execution of the Snatch today – this session is about movement; not load, so bring a positive attitude towards facing your weaknesses and see what difference a bit of dedicated focus can make.
The key to success is not to come in with any expectations or numbers in your head – they will only get in the way of good movement. If you need to work the overhead squat for 30 minutes with a PVC pipe to get better at the snatch, then so be it.
Check out the video below and watch it over and over again. In basic terms, performing a good snatch requires the ability to pull weight off the ground, violently open the hips and to catch the weight in an overhead position. Chances are if you have a weakness in one of these areas, you will need to spend more time there. Embrace it – there is no other way to get the full movement without mastering is constituents.
